Reserve on an American Wine Label Can Mean Anything. The Place Name Has to Be True
On a US wine label Reserve has no legal definition. Place name, vintage, grape and Estate Bottled do carry rules. Raphael Ventresca shows how Kendall-Jackson uses Reserve beside Grand Reserve, and why the narrower place line matters more than the big word. In Spain and Italy Reserva does mean mandatory ageing.
