Louwberg 1970
Louwberg 1970
On the Louwberg near Maastricht, formerly mostly fruit orchards, Hugo Hulst planted the first vines in 1970. The first harvest came in 1973, when few believed in Dutch wine.
More than fifty years on, Apostelhoeve remains with the Hulst family; the third generation helps run it. It is the oldest commercial wine estate in the Netherlands and a foundation stone of modern Dutch viticulture.
