Peloponnesos
Mantinia OPE
Twee gemeenten en negen dorpen, OPE sinds 1971. Ongeveer vijfhonderd hectare, zeventig procent Moschofilero, rest Asproudes in appellatiewijnen. Wijngaarden rond zeshonderd meter, oogst vaak eind september.
Moschofilero
Blanc de gris door roze druif. Fruitig bouquet met hoge zuurgraad. Verwantschap met Gewürztraminer. Groeit op hoogte in centraal Peloponnesos.
Nemea OPE
Zestien dorpen, OPE sinds 1971. Agiorgitiko domineert en past sinds circa vijfhonderd jaar in het gebied.
Agiorgitiko
Naam verwijst naar Agios Georgios, het huidige Nemea. Uniek voor zuid-Griekenland. Jonge wijn fruitig, vat geeft rijker bouquet en voller body. Stijl wisselt met hoogte.
Mantinia OPE
Two municipalities and nine villages, OPE since 1971. About five hundred hectares, seventy percent Moschofilero, rest Asproudes in appellation wines. Vineyards around six hundred metres, harvest often late September.
Moschofilero
Blanc de gris from a pink grape. Fruity bouquet with high acidity. Kinship with Gewürztraminer. Grows at altitude in central Peloponnese.
Nemea OPE
Sixteen villages, OPE since 1971. Agiorgitiko dominates and has fitted the area for about five hundred years.
Agiorgitiko
The name refers to Agios Georgios, present-day Nemea. Unique to southern Greece. Young wine is fruity, barrel gives a richer bouquet and fuller body. Style changes with altitude.
Egeïsche eilanden
Rodos OPE
Lang wijntraditie, OPE sinds 1971. CAIR koopt circa negentig procent van de druiven. Circa achttienhonderd hectare: elfhonderd Athiri, zeshonderd Mandilaria. Regen in rustperiode, koele noordenwind in groei.
Athiri
Voornamelijk Egeïsche eilanden, ook Noord-Griekenland en Peloponnesos. OPE Rodos vaak blend met Assyrtiko.
Samos OPE
Eiland ontstaan door tektoniek. Muscat voor Samos Glyko en Nectar. Phylloxera 1892, weinig rood herplant. Circa achttienhonderd hectare kalk, zee tot achthonderd meter.
Muscat
Varietale aroma, droog tot dessert. Ook op Kefalonia, Rodos en Patras voor lokale OPE-wijnen.
Rodos OPE
Long wine tradition, OPE since 1971. CAIR buys about ninety percent of the grapes. About eighteen hundred hectares: eleven hundred Athiri, six hundred Mandilaria. Rain in the rest period, cool north wind in growth.
Athiri
Mainly Aegean islands, also northern Greece and the Peloponnese. OPE Rodos often a blend with Assyrtiko.
Samos OPE
Island formed by tectonics. Muscat for Samos Glyko and Nectar. Phylloxera 1892, little red replanted. About eighteen hundred hectares of limestone, sea to eight hundred metres.
Muscat
Varietal aroma, dry to dessert. Also on Kefalonia, Rodos and Patras for local OPE wines.
Noord-Griekenland en Thessalië
Naoussa OPE
Xinomavro op lage hoogte, circa zevenduizend hectare. Wijncentrum tot negentiende eeuw. Phylloxera eind negentiende eeuw. OPE sinds 1971.
Xinomavro
Griekenlands belangrijkste roodras naast Agiorgitiko. Basis voor Naoussa, Amynteo, Goumenissa en Rapsani. Vat verbetert kwaliteit: hoge zuur, heldere kleur, rijke aroma's.
Rapsani OPE
Hoger dan omgeving, kalkhoudende bodem, redelijke neerslag. Na phylloxera circa driehonderd hectare herplant. Tachtig procent druiven voor OPE Rapsani.
Krasato en Stavroto
Krasato is inheems in Thessalië. Stavroto heet ook Ambelakiotiko. Samen met Xinomavro vormen ze de Rapsani-blend. Reserve rood: minstens drie jaar, zes maanden vat en zes maanden fles.
Naoussa OPE
Xinomavro at low altitude, about seven thousand hectares. Wine centre until the nineteenth century. Phylloxera at the end of the nineteenth century. OPE since 1971.
Xinomavro
Greece's main red variety beside Agiorgitiko. Base for Naoussa, Amynteo, Goumenissa and Rapsani. Barrel improves quality: high acidity, clear colour, rich aromas.
Rapsani OPE
Higher than the surroundings, calcareous soil, reasonable rainfall. After phylloxera about three hundred hectares replanted. Eighty percent of grapes for OPE Rapsani.
Krasato en Stavroto
Krasato is native to Thessaly. Stavroto is also called Ambelakiotiko. Together with Xinomavro they form the Rapsani blend. Reserve red: at least three years, six months barrel and six months bottle.
West-Griekenland
Letrino, regionale wijn
Mavrodaphne uniek voor Achaia en Kefalonia, zoete vatwijnen. Refosco in west-Peloponnesos, robijnrode kleur.
Cava rood: minstens drie jaar rijping. Minstens zes maanden nieuw eiken vat of één jaar oud vat, daarna twee jaar fles.
Letrino, regionale wijn
Mavrodaphne unique to Achaia and Kefalonia, sweet barrel wines. Refosco in western Peloponnese, ruby red colour.
Cava red: at least three years of ageing. At least six months new oak barrel or one year old barrel, then two years bottle.
