Cave De Montagnac
De Cave de Montagnac is in 1937 opgericht. De wijngaarden liggen in zeven dorpjes rond het l’Etang de Thau, aan de voet van de bergen. De Languedoc is een streek waar rode wijnen de boventoon voeren. Het aantal appellaties voor witte wijnen is in de Languedoc zeer beperkt. De enige twee zijn Clairette de Languedoc en Picpoul de Pinet.
Picpoul de Pinet dankt zijn klasse aan twee factoren: de ligging direct bij zee, aan het bassin de Thau, en de bijzondere druif, de Picpoul Blanc. Picpoul is ook de enige druif die in deze appellatie is toegestaan. De Picpoul rijpt het beste dicht bij zee, bij milde temperaturen die sterk door het zeewater worden beïnvloed, zodat het overdag nooit extreem heet wordt.
Cave De Montagnac
Cave de Montagnac was founded in 1937. The vineyards lie in seven villages around the Étang de Thau, at the foot of the mountains. The Languedoc is a region where red wines dominate. The number of appellations for white wines in the Languedoc is very limited. The only two are Clairette de Languedoc and Picpoul de Pinet.
Picpoul de Pinet owes its class to two factors: the location right by the sea, on the bassin de Thau, and the special grape, Picpoul Blanc. Picpoul is also the only grape allowed in this appellation. Picpoul ripens best close to the sea, at mild temperatures strongly influenced by seawater, so it never becomes extremely hot during the day.
