Chateau Montrose
Château Montrose, gelegen aan de oevers van het uitgestrekte Gironde, is een iconisch landgoed met een rijke geschiedenis die teruggaat tot de achttiende eeuw. Het château ontleent zijn naam aan de heuvel, oorspronkelijk bedekt met heide, die door zeelieden werd aangeduid als Mont Rose vanwege de roze tint die het landschap kreeg.
Château Montrose is de jongste Tweede Grand Cru Classé van 1855. Vandaag de dag wordt het beheerd door de familie Bouygues, die het landgoed heeft getransformeerd met een focus op duurzame excellentie. Château Montrose beslaat 95 hectare wijngaarden, verdeeld over 115 percelen, en is volledig gelegen in één blok.
Het landgoed is beschermd door de Gironde, die het terrein voorziet van een gunstig microklimaat. De rivier fungeert als klimaatregulator, verzacht extreme temperaturen en zorgt voor een constante ventilatie, wat bijdraagt aan de veerkracht van de wijnstokken. Het terroir bestaat uit verschillende terrassen.
De wijngaard is beplant met 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 32% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc en 2% Petit Verdot, en het landgoed maakt gebruik van een gedetailleerde aanpak van micro-perceel oogst en vinificatie. Elke hectare wordt afzonderlijk geoogst en gevinifieerd, wat bijdraagt aan de precisie en complexiteit van de wijnen.

Chateau Montrose
Château Montrose, on the banks of the wide Gironde, is an iconic estate with a rich history that goes back to the eighteenth century. The château takes its name from the hill, first covered with heath, that sailors called Mont Rose because of the pink tint the landscape took on.
Château Montrose is the youngest Deuxième Grand Cru Classé of 1855. Today it is run by the Bouygues family, who have transformed the estate with a focus on lasting excellence. Château Montrose covers 95 hectares of vineyard, split across 115 plots, and lies entirely in one block.
The estate is sheltered by the Gironde, which gives the land a favourable microclimate. The river acts as a climate regulator, softens extreme temperatures and keeps a steady breeze, which helps the vines stay resilient. The terroir is made of several terraces.
