Domein Holset
Domein Holset produceert ongeveer 25.000 flessen prijswinnende mousserende wijnen. Ze maken nu vier onderscheidende wijnen, volgens de traditionele methode. De mousserende wijnen krijgen een tweede gisting op de fles en daarna rijpen ze nog tussen de 24 en 36 maanden ‘sur lie’. Als gespecialiseerd Bruisend wijnhuis excelleren ze in de eigen Nederlandse smaakstijl met de druivenrassen Cabernet Blanc, Souvignier Gris, Johanniter, Chardonnay en Pinot Noir.
In 2008 liepen Marianne Blijdesteijn en Erik Leferink rondjes te draaien om de vervallen boerderij in Holset. Aan de voorkant het vriendelijk dorpje Holset, met wat horeca en een oud kerkje en aan de achterkant het schitterende Heuvelland. Daar is het idee ontstaan om iets op deze mooie plek te doen.
Het leuke van wijnbouw is dat je het landschap ‘meeneemt’ en dat past perfect in het Heuvelland. Druiven zijn een gewas dat wel 30-50 jaar kan staan en steeds beter wordt. De bodem waarin de druiven wortelen heeft löss in de bovenste laag, met daarin wat vuursteen, kiezel, kalksteen en kalksteenachtige stenen.
Domein Holset valt zowel onder de BOB, beschermde oorsprongsbenaming Mergelland als Vijlen. Naast de wijngaarden rondom Holset is een 4 hectare groot perceel in Rott, bij Vijlen in productie. Daar staat onder andere de Cabernet Blanc en Johanniter voor de Bruut van Holset en de Dot van Holset als wel als de Souvignier Gris en Johanniter voor de Prins van Holset.

Domein Holset produces about 25,000 bottles of prize-winning sparkling wines. They now make four distinctive wines, according to the traditional method. The sparkling wines get a second fermentation in bottle and then age another 24 to 36 months sur lie. As a specialised sparkling winery they excel in their own Dutch flavour style with the grape varieties Cabernet Blanc, Souvignier Gris, Johanniter, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
In 2008 Marianne Blijdesteijn and Erik Leferink walked in circles around the dilapidated farm in Holset. At the front the friendly village of Holset, with some hospitality and an old church, and at the back the splendid Heuvelland. That is where the idea arose to do something in this fine place.
The nice thing about winegrowing is that you take the landscape with you and that fits perfectly in the Heuvelland. Grapes are a crop that can stand 30 to 50 years and keep getting better. The soil in which the grapes root has loess in the top layer, with some flint, gravel, limestone and limestone-like stones in it.
Domein Holset falls under both the BOB, protected designation of origin Mergelland, and Vijlen. Besides the vineyards around Holset a 4-hectare plot in Rott, near Vijlen, is in production. There stand among others Cabernet Blanc and Johanniter for the Bruut van Holset and the Dot van Holset as well as Souvignier Gris and Johanniter for the Prins van Holset.
