Paolo Saracco
Paolo Saracco
Castiglione Tinella, in the middle of the historic production area of Moscato dAsti. Here the Saracco family has made this aromatic wine since the start of the twentieth century. Careful tending of their own vineyards is an essential part of the process and creates a close bond with the ideal terroir for growing Moscato grapes.
Under founder Luigi Saracco the family first put their aromatic Moscato on the market. In this period the wine was sold mainly in bulk, especially in spring, to firms that make Vermouth. With Giovanni, son of Luigi, at the helm the family house grew further.
New vineyards were bought and grape production rose. In these years the wine was sold mainly to producers of Asti Spumante. Changes were also made in the production process to make Moscato more attractive to a wider public. The passion and craft of earlier generations are continued by Paolo Saracco, Giovanni’s son and the present owner.
After his oenology studies Paolo decided to bottle the Moscato himself. That is how the Paolo Saracco brand began, introducing drinkers in Italy and far beyond to an exceptionally aromatic and well-balanced Moscato dAsti. Through precise work in vineyard and cellar, and a careful balance of tradition and modern techniques, Moscato Saracco grew in the years that followed into a reference point in the wine world.
All this from the heart of the Moscato area in Castiglione Tinella, where the family works 50 hectares of vineyard, fully according to the traditions of true winemakers.
